Aftercare Advice

It is important to look after your new tattoo with the advised aftercare given. This will minimise the risk of infection and allow your tattoo to heal optimally.

DAY OF TATTOO

Keep the dressing on until you are home. Wash and dry your hands then remove the dressing. Wash the tattooed area gently with warm water and soap and PAT DRY with a clean towel. DO NOT RUB THE SKIN DRY THROUGHOUT THE HEALING PROCESS.

Apply a healing balm (Butterluxe, Palmer’s Cocoa Butter or similar). Avoid using petroleum based creams.

DAYS 1 – 7

Wash clean, dry and apply healing balm 3 times a day.

DAYS 8 – 14

Continue to wash clean, dry and apply healing balm or an unscented lotion to tattooed area 2 times a day.

DAYS 14 – 28

Wash the tattooed area once a day and apply healing balm or lotion.

Throughout the healing process, wear loose fitting, cotton clothing to minimise irritation.

Do not soak the tattoo in the bath, go swimming, or expose the tattoo to direct sunlight/use sunbeds for 28 days.

Do not itch, scratch or pick the tattooed area. Your tattoo will naturally scab whilst healing which will break off by itself to reveal new, healed skin. After 28 days your tattoo should be completely healed.

Keep your new tattoo covered with loose fitting clothing and protected if working in a dirty, dusty or oily environment.

If you have any problems, queries or questions, contact myself initially. I will refer you on to a GP if there are any signs of adverse reaction or infection.
